It has been a few months since updating my blog. Lots of things have happened, and are happening. I suppose the best place to start is the big news.
Leslie and I are moving to Houston, Texas! What? When and how did this happen? Well, it has all happened quite quickly, frankly. Allow me to share the past month or so.
About a month or so ago, I was notified that a position was open in the missions department of Houston's First Baptist Church. Many of you know that I have interned in that office and church in the past. It was a church that had a lot of influence on me as a college student. Adding to this, my wife Leslie grew up at this church. I
Leslie and I already had a trip planned to Houston over the 4th of July, so we scheduled an interview during that time. I had a great time talking missions, ministry, and loving the community.
I received a call later that week, offering me to come on board with the missions staff. Leslie and I believed this was the direction we are to go, and so, we are moving. We are so very thrilled we can not tell you how much!
Allow me to share a bit more about my job. I will, as I said be on the missions staff of Houston's First Baptist Church. Specifically, I will function as the Associate Director of Houston's First Baptist Church's Faith Center. It is an incredible place, seeking to equip the physical needs of people while sharing Christ with them. I couldn't think of a better position for me at this time. I am SO excited about my position, and the opportunity I am going to get. Rather than me rambling about all the incredible things the Faith Center does, check out this link. http://www.houstonsfirst.org/FaithCenter It will tell you all about this incredible place that I get to help lead.
My position is full time, which is definitely something Leslie and I have been praying for at this time in our lives. God has proved faithful to us, providing us an opportunity that is geared exactly for who I am.
The Lord has shown himself extremely faithful to us. Within a week of my accepting my position, Leslie was accepting a teaching position in the Cy-Fair School District, teaching 8th Grade Science. She taught in this district prior to moving to Kansas City, and now she gets to go back.
Our transition happens pretty quickly, as our moving van will be pulling out of Kansas City Friday, August 5th and we will move in that weekend to our new place in Houston. I and Leslie will both be beginning our positions around August 15th.
We are feeling bittersweet about leaving Kansas City, a place and people that has meant so much to Leslie and I the last few years. But we are extremely confident in the Lord's moving, and are ready to get settled and serving in Houston.
Please pray for us, in our transition. We are very excited as we said, but have a lot to do as we wrap our lives up in Kansas City, and transition them to Houston. God has proved so faithful to us, and our hearts are full of gratefulness. Praise be to The Lord.
