Busy Weekend...

This weekend will find a lot going on! On Saturday, we have a big workday planned for Wornall Road Baptist Church. Between having an almost 100 year old building, and 5 churches meeting in it, we continually to do work on the facility to keep it open.  It's good, though. Nothing better than working and getting dirty together to build unity.

At the same time our work day is happening, we will have between 30-50 church planters in our building, as we host and lead The McCoy Group Gathering. Issac McCoy was a missionary to the KC area, before it was Kansas City. His son founded Westport, among other things. We will have a few speakers addressing the topic "The Impact Of The Gospel On The Life Of A Leader". Praying the Lord would move, and humility would exude the group of leaders we gather together.

We also begin on Friday to provide meals to the Southwest High School Basketball Team. I've been working this week on gathering donations, etc to make this happen. Very glad we are a church that is trying to love our community, in Jesus name, and continue to try to think less of ourselves.

Along with this, a good friend of Leslie (and mine) is coming into town for the weekend to hang out a bit before continuing on a work trip. We are so thrilled you are coming to hang out, Katie!

Excited as well to gather for worship and hearing the Word this Sunday.

In completely other news, today I tutored (for those of you who do not know, I tutor 3 afternoons and/or evenings a week).  In a room of about 15 students and adults, I was the only one that was even close to being caucasian.  I have been doing this for many months now, and it was the first time I have ever noticed it. I love it. If you have been and currently are only around people that look and sound like you, you are severely missing out on a lot.  God's creation is amazing, in how he made us. It's a lot of fun to continually learn.

Oh yes, and I am excited to announce that on Friday, I will work my last day at Barnes and Noble. After nearly three years, and a master's degree later, I can now quit this job to focus more of my time on Wornall Road Baptist Church and the Brookside area, for the sake of the Gospel. I'm sure you'll be hearing more about leaving the bookstore soon. All in all, very thankful for the job, and the flexibility it has allowed me. But, it is now time to press on, as we continue to journey into this next step of faith.
